Ivermectin is a workhorse antiparasitic with decades of real-world data. In a research setting, it’s used to explore parasite neurobiology, resistance mechanisms, and new applications for macrocyclic lactones.
How It Works
Ivermectin binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, causing increased chloride influx, hyperpolarization, paralysis, and death of the parasite. It can also potentiate certain GABA-gated chloride channels in some parasites, amplifying its paralytic effect.
Regulatory & Research Note
Ivermectin is FDA-approved as an antiparasitic for specific human and veterinary indications. The product offered here is supplied for research use only and is not intended for treatment, diagnosis, or human/animal administration.
